Sevilla coach Mendilibar: I want Monchi to stay

Sevilla coach Jose Luis Mendilibar admits he wants sporting director Monchi to stay.

Mendilibar penned a new four-year deal with Sevilla last week.

He said, "To renew I have also spoken with Monchi, he has been in trouble. What I know is that as long as he's at the club, I'm sure he'll do things right. I can't get into the rest. It is the same thing that has been said about me. It will be seen in a few days.

"Of course I would like Monchi to continue. He brought me two and a half months ago, he is one of the architects of me being here.

Sevilla have shown in recent years that they have known how to make competitive squads and that is why they have played in Europe. I know that together we will make a good team. There will be people who have to leave and others who have to arrive, but I am convinced that there will be a good squad.

"They are going to ask me to be in Europe or the Champions League, I am not worried about which players they give me or not."
