Packers Luke Musgrave Named 2024 Breakout Candidate
Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Pro Football Focus recently named potential breakout candidates for all of the teams in the NFC. For the Green Bay Packers, tight end Luke Musgrave was their pick.

There are a lot of reasons to be excited for the Green Bay Packers in 2024. After a really strong end to the 2023 season, the Packers are poised to be better this season, as most people didn’t believe they were a team that was not only going to make the playoffs but win a playoff game.

In the post-Aaron Rodgers era, the Packers were able to pick up the pieces very quickly, as their young core of talent led by quarterback Jordan Love helped create a lot of new excitement in Green Bay. While Love rightfully gets a lot of the attention as the quarterback, he has a lot of good young weapons around him.

One of those weapons is tight end Luke Musgrave. Recently, PFF named Musgrave as a breakout candidate for 2024, here’s what they had to say.

It’s hard not to be extremely excited about the Packers’ boatload of young receiving options, and Musgrave is verifiably part of that. He played in just 13 games because of a lacerated kidney, but he was elite at the end of 2023: his 91.9 receiving grade between Week 18 and the divisional round led all tight ends. Musgrave is a player to buy stock in entering 2024.

Luke Musgrave had a solid rookie season despite missing five games, as he totaled 34 receptions and 352 receiving yards in the regular season. Musgrave unfortunately missed time toward the end of the season when it felt like he was gaining some momentum, but he was back in time for the playoffs.

Arguably Musgrave’s best game came in the first round of the playoffs against the Dallas Cowboys. In the win, Musgrave totaled three receptions, 52 receiving yards, and one touchdown. As shown in his rookie season Luke Musgrave has a lot of talent and certainly will be a player to potentially break out.
