MLB insider predicts Tim Anderson will be traded before deadline
Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

We’re less than 24 hours away from Tuesday’s trade deadline, and one insider is making a bold claim.

MLB Network’s Jon Morosi briefly stated during the five o’clock hour of Monday’s “Parkins & Spiegel Show” that he thinks White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson will be traded. The prediction came when Morosi was asked a quick-hitting question on whether he thought TA would be on the move, to which he replied, “Yes.”

Anderson, 30, has struggled for much of the season but appears to have turned things around since the All-Star break. Over his last 15 games, TA is slashing .344/.403/.426 (21-for-67) with two doubles, six RBI, and .829 OPS. He also homered for the first time in over a year during Saturday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians.

This prediction by Morosi isn’t the first hint of the White Sox moving their shortstop. The MLB insider has been reporting on the topic lately, saying last week that the likelihood of Anderson getting traded was increasing given his improved play and potential willingness to play second base.

“The more interest he’s going to get is if he’s able to play second base as he did with manager (Mark) DeRosa with Team USA,” Morosi said about Anderson during an MLB Network appearance. “Whether it’s the Giants, whether it’s the Mariners, a team like the Toronto Blue Jays as well – if Tim Anderson plays second base, the opportunities expand.”

Since the Mariners have elected to sell following this report, the focus will now shift to other teams around the league. Toronto could now be an intriguing suitor given an apparent leg injury to shortstop Bo Bichette during Monday night’s game. The Marlins are also believed to have previously expressed interest in Anderson, according to an earlier report from ESPN’s Jesse Rogers, though it’s unknown if they are still engaged in talks.

We will continue to monitor this situation over the next day and provide further information as it becomes available. For all of the latest updates,
