In today’s Fact or Fiction — Recruiting Edition — I look at three big recent topics from the recruiting trail and decide whether the statement is indeed FACT or if it’s FICTION.

1. OL Jackson Lloyd is a Ohio State lean.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Chip Kelly offered him at UCLA and he just got offered by Ohio State and immediately took a visit. USC and Alabama have visits scheduled but he will be back for an official to Ohio State after those visits for a final push from Ryan Day and company. And I think they win the battle for the 4 star OL.

2. QB TJ Lateef is a huge get for Nebraska.

Farrell’s take: FACT

Lateef is a talented kid and a 4-star talent in this class, but his commitment is more important than rankings and even skill. It’s so hard to land an elite QB following a 5-star commit for programs like Nebraska in this day and age, so this is huge. While we are used to 5-star QBs lining up for other programs, for the Huskers to land a 5-star and follow it with a 4-star is uncommon — and very important.

3. OT Josh Petty will commit to FSU this summer.

Farrell’s take: FACT

The Georgia OL is trending heavily toward FSU, and when he visits in June, if all goes well, that will be the end of it. Petty is taking seven officials which is an absolute gauntlet. Georgia Tech, Clemson, Auburn, Tennessee, Stanford and Oregon get officials before FSU in late June and Notre Dame and Ohio State are trying. After so many visits, an educated decision can be made and I think it will be the Seminoles.
